De Klokkenberg was het grootste en modernste tuberculose sanatorium van Nederland. De zorginstelling, bood onderdak en zorg aan honderden tbc-patiënten. De verpleging en verzorging werd vooral gedaan door nonnen. Tbc werd al snel een goed behandelbare ziekte. In 1969 waren er niet veel patiënten meer, en hield het sanatorium in De Klokkenberg.

Construction of the park and garden was Jan Bijhouwer's design.
